Trying to find a reliable and interesting excursion can be quite stressful.
Cruise companies provide some fantastic day tours, the disadvantage being many are neither bespoke nor private.
CathBarr Chauffeur Services offer affordable, private day tours that take full advantage of Greenock's positioning 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Loch Lomond respectively.
We would be happy to help you plan your excursion. If you have 8 hours excursion time you can fit in a day in Glasgow with its museums, distillery, parks and colourful history .
You could head north for a trip to Loch Lomond where it is possible to book flights over the west coast on a seaplane or if you fancy further marine travel you can cross the loch on a ferry or very fast rib to have lunch in a loch side pub. Weather dependent of course.
You may wish to head north to the historic town of Inveraray and its castle which is home to the Chiefs of Clan Campbell. En route, time for photographs amid some outstanding scenery & a wee visit to an award winning micro brewery.
Head east to Stirling and Stirling Castle.
Surrounded by hundreds of years of Scotlands turbulent history you can visit the Wallace Monument with its historical artefacts and take the 246 steps to the top for a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Time permitting visit the largest equine sculptor in the world ," The Kelpies"standing proud at over 98 feet above the famous Forth and Clyde Canal.
Other destinations can be accommodated and we will always advise on timings for a suitable return to your ship for embarkation.
All shore excursions are individually priced . For the 2024 season an 8 hour excursions is £330 for up to 4 passengers and £500 for up to 8 passengers. We offer very favourable rates which are comparable to the rank taxis.

Sample Excursion to Loch Lomond (Weather Dependant)
A forty minute drive to Loch Lomond to meet the seaplane for your flight over Loch Lomond and the Clyde Estuary. Lunch at the prestigious Cameron House Hotel or visit the quaint village of Luss with a ferry ride across the Loch for lunch in a loch side pub. Your vehicle will be waiting for you at the pub and the drive back to Greenock for your embarkation time.
Sample Excursion to Glasgow City.
A forty minute drive from Greenock to Glasgow Cathedral where you can visit this iconic medieval building around which Glasgow was built.You then have the opportunity to visit any of the very impressive museums or buildings within the city or take the opportunity to walk round the city mural trail. Lunch at one of Glasgows top quality restaurants or perhaps afternoon tea in the Charles Rennie MacIntosh Willow Tea Rooms followed by a visit to a local distillery . Allowing for embarkation times, a visit en route to Newark Castle and back to your ship.
